Brotherly Love

Proverbs 17:17 (NKJV)

A friend loves at all times, And a brother is born for adversity.

Julian and Adrian Riester were born in Buffalo, New York, in 1919. The identical twins lived their lives in sync.  They attended the same schools and worked the same jobs together for all their lives. In June 2011, they both died at the same hospital within hours of each other. Brothers…

In Prov 17:17 we see that the difference between a friend and brother is shown. A true friend is a constant source of love, while a biologic brother may not be close, but is drawn near to help in a time of real need.

There are very special occasions when we find brothers that are not only brothers but best of friends… This is a extremely unique and a show of amazing love.  These brothers are what the true meaning of brotherhood talks about in the scripture.  It is what being willing to, “die for a brother” testifies to.

In my opinion, this love is as close as you can get to Christ’s love for His children.  A brother that is willing to lay down his life for his brother, both figuratively and literally, that is true love.

If you don’t have someone in your life that is willing to do that for you, maybe you first need to seek out someone that you would do it for first.  This is dieing to yourself for the benefit of someone else.

If you have that very special relationship with a brother or a “brother”, count your blessings you have a rare bond that cannot be broken, even in death.

Thank God for that brother.
