Deciding Factor

Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.  6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

A hunting guide, at times, literally has the life of a hunter in his hands.  There are those times when a call needs to be made that could decide between life and death.  Our clients look to us to be the deciding factor in the face of a dangerous situation.

I’ve got friends that have a TV show called the Twin Factor.  At the end of each show they challenge the viewers to “Be the Factor”.  At times in life we need to practice being the deciding factor to those around us, especially within our families.

Webster defines deciding as;

conclusive, critical, crucial, decisive, determining, influential, prime, principal, significant.

We each face a time in our lives where we decide to follow or not to follow Christ.  After that Christ becomes our deciding factor.  When we come to a crossroads or a major decision the factor that needs to direct our decision making has to be Christ.  If we allow anything else to be at the forefront we will eventually fall into a sinful situation.

As you move forward in life make sure that you are a factor to those around you.  But in your life, in your heart, make sure that Christ is your deciding factor.

In Psalms 32:8 tells us that God will be our deciding factor…

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
