God Given Gifts

GOD GIVEN GIFTS

1 Peter 4:10-11 (NIV)

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

Not much question that we all have gifts…  Some are more obvious than others.  Some people seem to have so much and we wonder how they could be so gifted while others don’t show any signs.  Why?

I think that those that seem more gifted are just using their gifts to a fuller extent.  We all have gifts, some just use the gifts that God has given them to serve others and to serve the Lord.

It doesn’t matter if your gift is music, painting, welding, mechanic or cooking, God can use you.  My mother has an amazing gift of hospitality and she allows God to use her, to serve others, often in her home.

Sometimes God shows us a gift we didn’t know we had until later in life but He still expects us to use it to its fullest.  Whatever God gives us, we can use it to His glory if we look for opportunities to serve Him and others.  Whatever it is don’t let your gift be wasted.

Recently I met an incredible artist who is helping me in illustrating my book.  He probably never thought that he would be used to add images to a devotional/ journal but he allowed God to use him for His work.  Thank you Dallen Lambson.

Erma Bombeck, a great humorist once said of her talents and gifts;

“When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, ‘I used everything you gave me’.”

Allow God to use you and your gifts, whatever they might be.  There is someone out there that God wants you to serve with what He gave you.  You have value.
